Hello Hellooo, Thank you for agreeing to share your insights with our readers. Means the world to us! ♥️
We understand you might have a few questions.
We have made this manual to help you with all the basic info.
What are we looking for in your content?
- We want you to speak from your experience. Cognition has always been a documentation-based newsletter and will stay the same. Whatever topic you choose, we recommend it be tried and tested by you. In short, we need a case study of your work.
Example: Instead of ‘How to increase your social media reach’, we prefer content like ‘How I increased my client’s social media reach from x to y in three months’
Our readers love first-hand experiences. We are doing our best to provide them with that.
- Be specific about incidents and give details. The more you contextualize the content for our readers, the easier it gets for us to truly understand what you mean.
- You are free to choose a topic of your own. Or you and I (Vikra) can hop on a call, brainstorm ideas, and chill for some time.
- We say the word limit is ~500 words because we value our guests’ time, and we don’t want them to spend much of it on guest poets. But honestly, there is no real limit. If you want to go above 300 words, you’re free to go to an extent you feel is right.
- We encourage you to write like you speak, as most of our content is conversational, simple, and feels one-on-one. We try our best to avoid or simplify jargon.
- You don’t need to introduce yourself. You can start with your topic, and I will write your introduction.
- You can use emojis, images, screenshots, gifs, memes, and infographics as you see fit.
- We want our readers to start implementing what they learn from you immediately. So please add an actionable hack or first step they need to take to begin working on what you’ve taught.
- You can promote your website, socials, and any digital products. We don’t put any limit to the number of links you promote, but from our experience, we’d say the clicks are higher when the links are less.
- Please don’t bother about writing copies for promotional links. We are happy to write in our voice as our recommendation for the readers to ensure higher clicks. However, please send the context we need to know (ex: USP of digital products, why someone should check your socials, etc.)
- Few things we need from you for the byline when you submit your post:
- Headshot picture
- Name you want us to display
- Link to your Twitter (this is Beehiiv’s primary link for the byline—it wasn’t our choice)
- Link to other socials and any link you want to promote/share
